The most recent project we were brought on for editing was for Lance Levesque’s GAY HERO PROJECT of BONNIE BOWMAN. REC FILMS has been a proud supporter of the project in also helping produce the series of documentary short films. We were solely responsible for editing this short documentary while on a conference call with the films director who resides in the New England area. The film is currently doing the festival curcuit for 2016.
Our latest project was for filmmaker Charlie Alberto IV and his short film ‘Sound Of HER’. We had a unique business relationship in that we never met face to face; well ecsept through our facetime meetings. Charlie sent us the picture locked cut and we discussed the tone and palatte the film needed. We sent him sections of the film in order of the look we created for approval by him.
“I worked with Ryan Chatel of REC films as my main post-production colorist & titling unit for my latest short ’Sound of Her’. They gave me a very fair set price for my 28 minute short right at the get go, after that money was never an issue and was rarely discussed; totally creative from that point on. I’m assuming Ryan liked my film, or felt some sort of connection to the piece because it was just as important to him as it was to me that the work he was doing for me reflected the story in a positive way. It is rare to find guys like this to jump on your project, especially, in post when “most” of the creative work is already set in stone. Ryan and I face-timed for the most part as a source of our “meetings & discussions” (him being from Long Island and myself in Jersey City). This made our collaboration very intimate and casual, putting no pressure on me, the client. The most important part to me and reason I will use Ryan again for future projects, not only did he give me a beautiful end result, but almost every single time (day or night) that I wanted to reach out for a question, concern, or just general notes and discussions; he was on the phone with me minutes later. I received options on top of options, drafts and drafts and so on until I was completely satisfied with what was on screen. The experience with Ryan Chatel and REC films was not rushed, he gave me as much time as needed to be happy with the product before an invoice was sent and the end result was probably greater than anything I could have comprehended for the price he promised me!”
